DotMatrix — Privacy Policy

DotMatrix (the “App”, package com.dotmatrix.watch) is a dot-matrix clock for Android with a built-in private security camera that its owner can view and record from their own devices. This policy explains what the App collects, why, and how it is handled. The App is operated privately by its owner; it is not offered to the general public and shows no advertising.

What the App accesses

• Camera (video). When — and only when — the owner opens a live view or a recording is started, the device captures video from its camera.
• Microphone (audio). Captured together with video, or on its own for audio-only recordings, so the owner can hear and record sound. If microphone permission is not granted, the App works without sound.
• Notifications. Used only to show that the camera service is running.

How your data is handled

• On-demand only. The camera and microphone are active only while the owner is watching or recording. Nothing is captured in the background when no one is viewing.
• Streaming. Live video and audio are relayed through the owner’s own private server so the owner can watch from another device or network. On the same Wi-Fi the device may stream directly, device-to-device, without leaving the local network.
• Recordings. Clips the owner records are stored on the owner’s private server and are visible only to the owner through a password-protected admin panel. They are kept until the owner deletes them or a retention period the owner sets removes them.
• Connection information. To route the stream, the server necessarily sees network addresses (public IP and, on the local network, the device’s LAN address). These are used only to connect the owner to their own cameras and are shown only in the owner’s admin panel.

What we do NOT do

• We do not sell or share your data with third parties.
• We do not use advertising or third-party analytics/tracking SDKs.
• We do not use your video or audio for artificial intelligence, face recognition, or any automated profiling. Recording and viewing are entirely under the owner’s manual control.
• We do not access the camera or microphone except while viewing or recording as described above.

Access & security

The admin panel and camera links are protected by a username, password and access key. Live viewing and recordings are served only to a signed-in owner. Traffic to the server is encrypted over HTTPS.

Your controls

• Grant or revoke Camera / Microphone / Notification permissions at any time in Android Settings.
• Turn viewing off per camera, and delete recordings, from the admin panel.
• Uninstalling the App stops all capture from the device.

Children

The App is a private tool for its owner and is not directed to children.
